Serbia

I spent a couple of days in Belgrade in September of 2023.  Serbia was my penultimate European UN member country.  Then I flew to North Macedonia from Belgrade

A surprise in Belgrade was a Cuban restaurant, La Rumba.  I ran across it when I was looking for a restaurant near the Tesla Museum.  La Rumba is owned by a Cuban couple that have been in Serbia only a few years.  Serbia apparently offered visas to Cubans, and they were eager to live in another country.

I stayed at the Hotel Moskva, an older, once-grand hotel.  It's still pretty nice and well-situated.  I also passed by the Chinese embassy that was bombed by the US in 1999.  When I visited China in '99, people were pretty sore about the bombing and believed that it was deliberate.

One day I went to Novi Sad in the north of Serbia, had a nice lunch there, and visited the Vinum Winery on the way back.
