I went to Nepal and first went to Tiger Tops in the south of Nepal, followed by a flight to Lukla and a trek to Everest Base Camp with an outfit called Mountain Travel Sobek.
Tiger Tops was a wonderful place and well worth the flight and driving to get to the lodges. The lodge at Chitwan still exists, see https://tigertops.com/. However, I saw no tigers, just tiger prints.
The trek was called the Ultimate Everest Trek and was well designed to keep us from getting altitude sickness because it went up to a certain altitude during the day and got us down somewhat for better sleep.
We started at Lukla and took 2-3 days to hike up to Namche Bazaar in time for the Saturday market, which was fantastic.
We then went to Thame along a beautiful valley. This was also over a couple of days.
Then we came back to Namche and walked to Gokyo (about 15,500 ft) over several days.
At this point, it was time to go up the Khumbu Valley to Everest, and we had a choice to hike over the Cho La Pass (17,782 ft) or to go back down to near Namche. The weather forecast was good, and there reportedly was not much snow, so we camped below Cho La and crossed the next day.
After going up to Gorak Shep and base camp, we came down the valley and up the Chukhung Valley. There I climbed a mountain to 19,300 feet, the highest I've climbed.
Finally, we walked down to Pangboche and Tengboche, then Namche again to walk back to Lukla for the flight to Kathmandu.
